The celebration takes place at Pape'ete, Tahiti. Events start on February 5- February 16. They have Dragon boat races on June 8th at the Pape'ete harbor. Tahiti also celebrates Chinese New Year with lighting lanterns. Families can hang out and socialize celebrating freedom, because in the Ancient China, women were only let out of the house on Chinese New Year to take part in the lantern festival. Tahiti also celebrates Chinese New Year with parades. Locals and tourists come to the only Chinese temple in Tahiti, Kanti de Mamao, to give thanks and ask for protections in the new year.
